The typing skill test for Head Constable Ministerial (HCM) and ASI Steno posts across Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF, CISF, BSF, SSB, ITBP) is notoriously difficult. Official CAPF Exam Parameters

• Duration: 10 minutes on a computer.
• English Typing: Minimum 35 WPM required (on computer) corresponding to 10500 Key Depressions Per Hour (KDPH).
• Hindi Typing: Minimum 30 WPM required (on computer) corresponding to 9000 KDPH. Mangal font with Inscript or Remington (Gail) keyboard layout is standard.
• Test Environment: You will generally type from a printed paper passage onto the screen. Highlighting and the Backspace key are strictly disabled.

The Official Calculation Formula

Your final net speed is calculated in these exact steps:

1. Total Strokes: Counted by the system (e.g., 1800 strokes).
2. Total Words: Total Strokes divided by 5 (e.g., 1800 / 5 = 360 words).
3. Ignorable Mistakes: 5% of Total Words (e.g., 5% of 360 = 18 mistakes ignored).
4. Penalty: (Total Mistakes made - Ignorable Mistakes) × 10.
5. Net Speed: (Total Words - Penalty) / Time in minutes.

How to Clear the CAPF Test

Because the penalty is brutal (1 mistake = 10 words lost), your primary focus must be Flawless Accuracy.
