RVUNL Junior Assistant & Commercial Assistant-II: Complete Preparation Strategy

Getting a government job as a Junior Assistant (JA) or Commercial Assistant-II in Rajasthan's power companies is a dream for many students. First, you have to pass Phase 1 (the written exam). But the real challenge is Phase 2.

Phase 2 is the Typing and Efficiency Test. Many students fail here because they do not know the correct rules, lack speed, or make simple formatting mistakes in MS Word/Excel. In this guide, we use simple words to explain exactly how to prepare for both phases and how you can easily pass the final test.

Strategy 1: How to Clear the Written Exam

The Phase 1 Written Exam is a competitive computer-based test (CBT). It focuses heavily on speed and your basic knowledge of mathematics, reasoning, and the state of Rajasthan.

Subject / Section Key Focus Areas
Reasoning & Mental Ability Puzzles, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations
General Knowledge Rajasthan History, Culture, Power Sector News
Language (Hindi/Eng) Grammar, Vocabulary, Translation
Basic Mathematics Class 10th Arithmetic, Percentage, Profit & Loss
Computer Knowledge MS Office (Word, Excel), Shortcuts

3-Step Written Roadmap:

  1. Fix Rajasthan GK First: A huge portion of the General Awareness weightage directly highlights Rajasthan's geography and energy projects. Read standard state board textbooks.
  2. Daily Reasoning Practice: Solve at least 30 reasoning questions daily under timed conditions to improve speed for the online screen.
  3. Master MS Office Early: Understanding MS Word and Excel now will make your Phase II Efficiency Test completely effortless.

Strategy 2: Step-by-Step Guide for Phase-II Typewriting Test

Phase II carries 100 Marks and consists of four sub-tests (10 Minutes duration each):

Phase-II Sub-Test Section Duration Maximum Marks
(A) Hindi Type-writing: (a) Speed Test 10 Minutes 25 Marks
(A) Hindi Type-writing: (b) Efficiency Test 10 Minutes 25 Marks
(B) English Type-writing: (a) Speed Test 10 Minutes 25 Marks
(B) English Type-writing: (b) Efficiency Test 10 Minutes 25 Marks

тЪая╕П Official Rule: The Hindi Typing test is conducted exclusively in Devlys 010 (or Kruti Dev 010) font on a Remington typewriter layout. Unicode fonts like Mangal or Inscript are NOT permitted for RVUNL typing.

How to Learn Typing (Beginner to Expert):

Stage 1: Muscle Memory (Days 1 to 7)

If you are a beginner, do not attempt full-paragraph mock tests right away. Focus purely on touch typing. Place your fingers on the Home Row and practice typing without looking down at the keyboard keys.

Stage 2: Mastering Special Characters (Alt Codes)

Devlys 010 requires typing specific numerical Alt Codes for half-letters and special characters. You must memorize these to maintain speed during the exam.
